چکیده
Received October 2007 Accepted June 2008 INTRODUCTION Leydig cell tumors (LCTs) are the most common stromal tumors, accounting for 3% of all testicular neoplasms.(1) Approximately, 3% of the LCTs are bilateral.(1) They may be hormonally active, leading to either feminizing or virilizing syndromes. About 10% of them are malignant.(1) The diagnosis of a malignant LCT is not always easy, because no definite histological criteria exist for malignancy. About 20% of the patients present already with metastases, while 40% of them will develop secondary foci within 2 years.(1,2) Cryptorchidism is a well-established epidimiological risk factor of testicular germ cell cancer; however, data regarding a possible association with sex cordstromal testicular tumors are scarce. (2) Hereby, we present a rare case of unilateral malignant LCT in a patient with a history of contralateral cryptorchidism.

Influence of naturally unilateral cryptorchidism on the histomorphometry of the testes and daily sperm production in West African Dwarf goats
Quantitative histology of the descended testis of unilateral cryptorchid bucks was compared with testis of normal bucks to evaluate the reproductive potentials of the scrotal testis in unilateral cryptorchids, using light microscopy techniques. The contralateral scrotal testes of the unilateral cryptorchids and the testes of the normal bucks contained profiles of seminiferous epithelium and eac...

Cryptorchidism is the most well-defined risk factor for the development of testicular GCT; if uncorrected, the relative risk is 5 to 9 times that of healthy age-matched controls.[1] Approximately 10% of all cases of testicular GCT are associated with cryptorchidism and 10% of patients with cryptorchidism develop testicular GCT.[2,3] When testicular GCT develops in patients with unilateral crypt...

متن کاملImpaired estrogen production by Leydig cells of the naturally retained testis in unilaterally cryptorchid boars and stallions.
Estrogen production in vitro was compared for Leydig cells from cryptorchid and scrotal testes in boars and stallions. Animals with natural and experimental cryptorchidism were used. Purified Leydig cells were prepared from testes of mature animals by collagenase treatment and Percoll density gradients. After incubation for 3 hours (1 X 10(6) cells), estrone sulfate and estrone in the media wer...
متن کاملLeydig cell tumor in a patient with 49,XXXXY karyotype: a review of literature
49,XXXXY pentasomy or Fraccaro's syndrome is the most severe variant of Klinefelter's syndrome (KS) affecting about 1/85000 male births. The classical presentation is the triad: mental retardation, hypergonadotropic hypogonadism and radio ulnar synostosis. Indeed, the reproductive function of Fraccaro's syndrome is distinguished from KS. Besides, Leydig cell tumors are described in cases of KS,...
